Annual General Meeting 1/5/25


There were 28 in attendance.


S Mason in the chair, welcomed members to this meeting.  Senga gave a comprehensive report on matters and events over the past year.


Briefly outing to Peebles in May 2024 – good day but few felt the journey a bit lengthy

Stirling/Callander in September also a lovely day ; Bruce 750 had a Craft Marquee ; Craft Fairs in Carrick Centre; Charity Shop was held in the Gatherings in March which was reasonably successful, unfortunately were a bit short on volunteers and donations, this is MOF’s source of funding for Outings; Panto outings to both Glasgow and Ayr were enjoyed ; Christmas Social well supported and enjoyed, thanks to all who helped in any way to make these events.


Group reports were given –


Ukulele – well supported each week, usually between 10 -18 folks taking part.  A few of the members have attended various Festivals throughout the year.


Knit & Natter – held Mondays and Thursdays good attendance, this group supports raffle prizes for outings etc.


In Stitches Sewing Group – restarted, held on Monday afternoon at NCCBC Hub, progressing well have submitted for grant monies for a Quilting Frame


Chair Yoga – funding from the Co-Op, tutor no back and class is held on Tuesday afternoon 2 -3pm – Church Hall


Short Walk – Wednesday 10am start at Greenside – go to various destinations namely for about 2mls, also visits to coffee shops is included.


Walking Group – Wednesday 9am Greenside – also various places visited normally covering anything up to 5 ml, again they like their coffee stops.


Theatre Group – mostly visit Gaiety Shows, looking at what's coming for the summer season, if anyone is interested and would like to see a show but not go on their own, let us know and join the group.


Camera Club – meet Monday afternoons, one or two new members have joined and visit various locations, maybe weather dependent


Out & Abouters – 2nd Friday of the month, making good use of the bus pass, and meet at Greenside 9-15am. Have been to various towns around Ayrshire.


Art Group – Friday mornings, usually about 10 - 12 attending, various projects going on.  Go at your own pace, help given to get folks started if thinking about taking this hobby on. All welcome to pop in and have a chat.

 

Treasurer’s Report – Jackie read out her Balance Sheet and answered any questions asked. Thanks were given to Jackie for looking after the clubs accounts.

  • Suggestions were asked for who to donate the Christmas raffle money, it was agreed that the £70 would go to the “Night before Christmas” Charity.


  • Outing to Largs – 22 May 2025, at present the bus is full, and a reserve list made.  Monies must be paid by 12 May, or seats may be re-allocated.


  • Memberships due today – still only £12.00


  • Craft Fair to be held at Gala Day on Saturday 7 June 2025, anyone willing to help on the day also any donations for Tombola would be appreciated.


  • List started for Panto at King’s “Little Mermaid”, cost will be £30 for members and £37 for non-members.  It would be appreciated if this could be paid at the July meeting.


  • September outing – suggestions for this are 1. Edinburgh. 2. Castle Douglas/Kirkcudbright 3. Biggar.  Can you please let me know what your preference would be? Please choose one of them and let me know before the July meeting.


  • September – will be in the Gatherings for an Information Hub for a week to promote the works of MOF’s, all welcome to pop in. It was asked if anyone objected to photographs of groups being taken for display. This was agreed


  • A suggestion was made for a group visit to Dumfries House would be of interest to members.  Please let me know if you would be interested in this.


  • A suggestion for another short break in the UK was mentioned and discussed, the places suggested were York, Liverpool, Manchester or Newcastle.  Those interested let me know ASAP. Looking at the last week of November 2025.

 

Business concluded, members enjoyed a light buffet of sandwiches and biscuits with tea/coffees.
