Minute of General Meeting of MOF’s held on Thursday 20 July 2023 in St Oswald’s Church Hall, Cargill Road, Maybole at 1pm

Mrs Senga Mason chaired this meeting today.

May outing – members were asked their comments on the recent trip in May to Helensburgh and Loch Lomond Shores

  • Not enough time in Helensburgh
  • Too long at Loch Lomond, not much to do, shops expensive, unfortunately cruise ship was not running from this point on that day.
  • High Tea was enjoyable at The Rowantree

September Outing – this was discussed, and members were given four options.

  1. Dunoon.  2. Edinburgh & Livingston.  3. Dumfries & Devil’s Porridge/J. M. Barry Museum. 4. Kelpies & Falkirk Wheel.

On a show of hands, it was down to Edinburgh or Dumfries.  Costs will be done and come back to members for their preference.

Tattoo 2024 - this was discussed once again, had enquired with Dodds of Troon, to get idea of costs, but they are not running any trips this year.  Will look further into this and if this goes ahead, members were told that a savings club could be run for this outing.

Outing abroad 2024 – Senga had a look at prices, and compared to what it was costing, the prices have become quite expensive.  Namely, in the current financial times.

Christmas Markets – Last year there was a trip of 4 days to Newcastle in November. Suggestions for another was made – York, Liverpool and also Dublin (fly not ferry) – costs will be looked into, and information circulated.
